British Photography Awards 2026

Three images shortlisted for the British Photography Awards!

A bit of good news — I've had three images shortlisted for the British Photography Awards 2026, all in the Commercial: Product category!

I'm pretty chuffed about that, to be honest. It's always nice to have your work recognised, and I'm now looking forward to finding out what happens on November 1st.

The three images are The Upside Down, Atmosphere and Strawberry Bed. All three came from different projects, and each involved a slightly different approach to getting the shot.

The Upside Down was created for the Stranger Things book published by Penguin Random House, in collaboration with Netflix. I wanted to bring a bit of the show's atmosphere into the pictures, so I got busy with some stones, a sheet of perspex and a red light.

Atmosphere involved a slightly different shopping trip. I wanted to recreate the clouds from the book cover, which led to me buying eight large bags of cushion stuffing from a local haberdashery. Not the most exciting purchase I've ever made, but it did the job!

I built the scene around the book, lit everything in the studio and added the colour afterwards in Photoshop. It was a fun one to work on, and the images ended up helping me secure further work with other publishers, which was a nice bonus.

Then there's Strawberry Bed, the third image to make the shortlist - it’s obvious what I did here!

It's lovely to have all three included, particularly as book photography is something I've been putting a lot of time into. There's usually a bit more to these pictures than meets the eye, and I enjoy figuring out how to turn an idea into something that works.

The winners are announced on November 1st, and I'm really looking forward to finding out if I've won anything. Three shortlisted images gives me a few chances, at least! You can see the full shortlist over on the British Photography Awards website.

Thanks for stopping by, Will
