A Documentary Style That Brings Events to Life
Being an event photographer has given me access to people, moments, locations and perspectives that I'm incredibly grateful to have witnessed, and constantly reminds me of how varied and fascinating life can be. Event photography comes with a level of trust and responsibility that isn't given lightly. Whether it's documenting a corporate event, a live performance, or a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, clients are placing their confidence in me to capture something that can't be repeated. That trust is earned through experience, preparation and the ability to stay calm and focused when the world around can be chaotic.
Over the years, I've found that some of my most memorable images aren't necessarily the obvious ones. Sometimes it's the little things – the way light falls across a room, the shadows cast inside a venue, a fleeting glance between two people, or the raw emotion on a performer's face moments before they step on stage. It's learning to notice these details, often in the middle of busy, fast-moving environments, that keeps photography endlessly rewarding for me. No two events are ever the same, and that's a large part of what continues to inspire me after all these years.
Over the years, my work has been recognised by the British Photography Awards and the Event Photography Awards, where I’ve been a finalist across multiple genres. These honours reflect my commitment since 2011 to producing photography that tells a story – whether that’s a live band commanding the stage, a crowd lost in the music, or the candid interactions that bring events to life.
For me, great event photography isn’t just about technical skill – it’s about people. I take time to build meaningful connections with clients, performers, guests and fans so people feel more comfortable with me around with a camera in hand. This creates a relaxed atmosphere and allows me to capture natural, storytelling images that reflect the real spirit of the occasion.
